Membership
We are a friendly, welcoming community of seniors who enjoy coming together on a regular basis to write, rehearse, operate sound equipment and produce quality radio plays that we perform.
We begin rehearsals each year at the beginning of February, meeting weekly on Monday mornings from 10:00am to 12:30pm at the Church of Christ Hall, 3 Allen Street, Brooklyn Park.
Between March and November we perform approximately twice a month at various retirement villages, seniors social clubs, life style estates, Probus Clubs and other seniors groups.
We try to schedule most of our performances between 11am and 3pm Tuesdays to Fridays so that we are still able to meet on Mondays for rehearsals, workshops, reading and writing play scripts.
Not all members participate in every performance as we require a maximum of 10 people to do a performance. This means that for members who may be taking a holiday, are ill or have other commitments at the time of the performance, we have enough members who can fulfil our engagements.
The plays we perform are written and performed by our members who are all seniors, mostly retired. Some of us have theatre experience and others have no experience at all but have an interest in live theatre, performing, operating sound equipment and/or writing scripts. Many have developed their skills since joining our welcoming group. We regularly do workshops for our members to improve our knowledge and skills in all aspects of writing, performing, operating equipment and producing radio plays.
Membership is $50 per annum from February to February which helps cover the cost of scripts, hall hire, costume, badges, insurance, music licence and morning tea.
